The Friday Policy Forum was conceived as a convenient and non-threatening
mechanism for information transfer and knowledge creation, among members of
an affinity group comprising senior executives, intellectuals, and policy
managers and decision-makers in government, business and academia.
Format
Friday
Policy Forum is a monthly gathering of senior executives from the public
and private sectors. Organised and hosted by MIND, under the direction
of the Cabinet Secretary, the forums are designed to encourage interactions
that create or improve knowledge.
•
Senior executives from government and non-government organizations, the
private sector and academia are invited from a selected members’
pool, which consists of some 500 individuals;
• The specific invitees for each forum depends on the subject of
that forum’s presentation;
• Presenters and discussion facilitators are selected on the basis
of their knowledge, expertise or familiarity with the subject matter;
• Each forum accommodates up to 40 persons;
Friday Policy
Forums are held in The Forum at MIND on the last
Friday of each month. The Forum is a modern executive training room. Its
attractive décor and furnishings are intended to appeal to, and
generally create an environment in which individuals in executive management
will be comfortable. Commencing promptly at 12:30 p.m., each forum starts
with lunch; includes a presentation and a discussion session, and ends
by 2:30 p.m.
Objectives
& Opportunities
Friday Policy
Forums are designed to transfer information to senior executives who do
not normally have the time or inclination to create knowledge by sitting
through protracted “training” sessions. The forums also present
opportunities:
• For government policy makers and policy managers to elucidate
policy directions and decisions to executive leadership of relevant interest
groups;
• For private sector leaders and public sector policy makers to
have dialogue on national development issues;
• For public sector executives to exchange experiences and generally
share information with the aim of assisting each other to manage more
effectively;
• For transfer of research findings and new developments, from academics
to government and private sector practitioners.
Fulfilling
our Mandate
The Friday
Policy Forums enable MIND to fulfil its dual obligations to train, and
to assist knowledge creation through timely dissemination of relevant,
and important information to public (and private) sector managers.
